The YMR Experience: Swazi Wave Album Review | Tindzaba

Review: The YMR Experience’s Long-Delayed "Swazi Wave" Reminds Us Why They One of the Swaziland Greats It’s an album full of fire and passion from a band that don’t have anything left to prove. It’s taken Swaziland band “The YMR Experience” longer than most to create their moment. The band has been on the indie circuit for almost a decade and was once touted as future stars. When fame didn’t come, they made their own seat at the table, infamously selling beats for $500 each and getting Princess Sikhanyiso Dlamini to endorse them by purchasing 15 of their beats.  They parlayed their music successes into local business ventures—including a publishing company and a “smart production studio”.  Swazi Wave, their first album is more than six years in the making. It is formally their “debut album”. As statements go, "Swazi Wave" is more of a remembrance than a celebration.  Tracklist 1. Last Night 2. Amanga 3. Can’t Hold You Back 4.

As a music executive and owner of a music related business “Young Mindz Rekordz” I vowed never to acknowledge anything that Sakhile Nkambule owner of “Swazi Jive” ever worked on. It’s called being a “hater” because he seems to make all the moves that my business should be making. But having interviewed SmokeyAndWigo for one of our podcasts in 2017,  I realised that i shouldn’t let my grudge for another business owner stand in the way of SmokeyAndWigo’s progress. When i saw on social media that they had a viewing session at Swazi Jive for their video “Phobia” i told my team to block them and never interact with them again. “Take down the interview we did” i said angrily to my assistant. She didn’t listen as usual and kept the interview on our platforms. Over the past week i have heard that Swazi Jive launched a new music streaming  platform  lalelamusic.com   , i am yet to check it out. Today i decided to listen to the “Palm Trees” song by Smok
